Father’s Day 2021 was more energizing and festive than ever for the Fit Fathers Foundation, dads, father figures, and the families in attendance to support our influential lifestyle message: “lead by example, so your child becomes the example.” With Covid-19 taking its toll physically and mentally on communities, people were excited to commune with similar minds focused on strengthening their health disposition. No problem since the 8th Annual “Fit Fathers Day” Celebration: The Hybrid Edition provided the requisite tools and resources for the positive outlook.

Of course, June is Men’s Health Month, so we hosted Fit Fathers Day as a hybrid, both virtual through FB Live to exercise from the comforts of home and onsite at Veterans Plaza in Downtown Silver Spring, MD. Presented by GMC in conjunction with community and media partners, participants caught the health vibe from six remarkable trainers with six unique workouts and a particular bonus celebrity Zumba set. They included GymJonez, Michaelangelo Bance, Sofia Rodriguez, Vic The Boxing Guy, Kseniya Tsoi, and Jackie Paige. The team led an energetic and life-enhancing fitness set for everyone’s participation.

I want to specifically showcase love and gratitude to GMC for the Fit Fathers Day partnership. The featured 2021 Yukon AT4 garnered the respect of many and doubled as the perfect full-size event transport utility. Before that, we utilized the 2021 Sierra 2500 Denali for mobile popup workouts, which were a hit. Thank you, General Motors! Moreover, media coverage was provided by 93.9 WKYS FM, MAJIC 102.3, 92.7, Praise 104.1 FM, Hip Hop Fathers, NBC 4, WUSA 9, Fox 5 DC, 95.5 WPGC, Urban Flavors, Tegna, Source of the Spring, The Moco Show, Maryland Public TV, PCRM Podcast, and many more.

Music by DJ Blinks rocked the crowds while $2,500 in prizes and gifts were raffled off from Bose, Michelin, Turtle Wax, and Space Jam: A New Legacy. Health and food advocacy manifested from T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies, Men’s Health Network, AAHP, Meatless Monday, and the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine.

Fit Fathers Day has always been centered around unity. Love for every man, woman, and child, no matter color or culture, is our guiding path. Fit Fathers is a 501 (c) (3) organization that educates through engaging health habits, fitness tips, nourishment strategies, and overall wellness. We enlighten families with platforms for eating nutritional foods and incorporating stimulating activity in their daily regimen while encouraging healthy lifestyle habits.

Moving forward, the celebration of life should take place more than just once a year. Continue to energize your temple with physical activity and fuel the body with plant-based foods such as veggies, fruits, beans, nuts, whole grains, and seeds to increase your intake of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Additionally, drink spring water over sugary beverages and always emit uplifting vibrations. We have free plant-based “Empowered by Food” courses on the Website that you can take advantage of.

It’s incredible what our Fit Fathers Day celebrations can do for the mind and spirit. Keep moving, people!
