I must say, the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series is the most entertaining run series we have participated in to date. And since Fit Fathers also reviews the latest Auto Fit lifestyle vehicles, it only made since for us to run alongside the Mazda Game Changer team. We’ll be competing in the Virginia Beach Half Marathon on August 31st. Training has been fun and exciting as we have been trotting around the globe putting in miles including Jamaica, Florida, India, etc. Even more exciting is that Competitor Group, Inc. (CGI), the leading active lifestyle sports media and event entertainment company, and Mazda North American Operations (MNAO) have expanded their relationship, as Mazda becomes the Official Automotive Partner of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series.
The Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series combines entertainment and running, featuring live bands performing at every mile along the course, cheerleaders encouraging runners throughout the race, and a post-event headliner concert. Mazda will have a significant presence at each of the remaining 2014 Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon and Half Marathon Series events in major markets such as Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Denver, San Antonio and Las Vegas, among others. “Mazda is a brand built on passion,” said Russell Wager, MNAO vice president of marketing. “Expanding our relationship with the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series allows us to meet customers within their existing passion-points of music and running, all to build a natural affinity between their interests and our vehicles.” The partnership kicks off next weekend at the Rock ‘n’ Roll Chicago Half Marathon (July 18-20), with activities for runners including ride-and-drive opportunities for marathon participants and supporters at several Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series events. Mazda pace vehicles will lead the way for tens of thousands of Rock ‘n’ Roll runners and spectators on race day. “We look forward to providing Mazda with a fully integrated event platform to engage with affluent athletes and create a genuine brand connection with runners across the country,” said Bill Pedigo, CRO of CGI. “From energizing runners pre-race at the expos with inspirational promos to enhancing the participant experience on race day, Mazda’s increased partnership will support our unique races in memorable ways.”
Runners will not only be exposed to Mazda at the start and finish line, but also through pre-race activities taking place throughout the running festival weekends. Participants can visit the interactive Mazda exhibit when they pick up their number at each event’s two-day Health & Fitness Expo to have their photo taken, refuel at the Mazda Fueling Station with free food and beverages, and share stories of personal inspiration and motivation on the interactive #GAMECHANGER wall.
In addition to providing onsite activities, influential “Team Mazda” runners will participate in each Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon event. A full list of Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon cities and dates is available online at RunRocknRoll.com.
Furthermore, attendees for the Chicago, Denver, San Antonio and Las Vegas races also will have the ability to engage with well-known runner and influential blogger, Dorothy Beal. Beal, a mother of three, has an impressive 27 marathons under her belt and a 3:11 personal best. Her ‘Mile Posts’ blog is full of down-to-earth musings, with thoughts on running, race recaps, and much more.
“I’m thrilled to be working with Mazda as part of their ‘Game Changer’ program,” said Dorothy Beal. “Running was and continues to be one of the biggest game changers in my life and I can’t think of a better place for runners to share their pivotal moments than at a Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Running Festival.”
Organized by CGI, the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series is the ‘World’s Largest Running Series’ with more than 500,000 runners taking part in festival events around the world every year. The series started in 1998 with the simple idea of making running fun, which has transformed the U.S. running landscape by infusing the course with live bands, cheer teams and entertaining water stations, creating a block-party atmosphere for participants and spectators alike. Today, the series of marathons and half-marathons has spread to more than 28 destination cities, drawing visitors from around the world.
Over the 17-year history of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series, charity partners have raised more than $300 million through the events for a variety of worthy causes. Race weekends kick off with a free Health & Fitness Expo with exhibitors offering samples and showcasing the latest in running gear, sports apparel, health and nutritional information and much more. Events culminate with an entertaining finish line festival featuring some of the biggest names in music, with headliners like Pitbull, FloRida, Cheap Trick and Bret Michaels.
