It’s pretty official and clear as morning light. After a two-day experience at the most fitness focused hotel I’ve ever enjoyed, the Fit Fathers team will be lodging at the Los Angeles Athletic Club (LAAC) every time we visit The City of Angels henceforth. I’m actually upset that I just discovered this historic hotel and club located in downtown LA just two blocks from the new Whole Foods.

I travel incessantly and it is imperative that my health and fitness goals align with the lifestyle I sustain, which typically means booking hotels with the best fitness facilities. There is nothing more disappointing than a hotel gym that is the size of a walk-in closet or has been transformed from a former guest room. So of course I was in heaven since guests are privy to the full range of facilities at LAAC. As stated, the property is devoted to the lifelong pursuit of health-giving amusements. Actually, I reorganized my scheduled based on the activities I wanted to indulge in such as basketball on the full-court, a swim in the indoor pool, a few sprints on the small, interior track and strength training in the weight rooms. Then you have the choice of handball, squash, spinning, volleyball, boxing and a cadre of other fitness focused fun. Whether your selection of exercise is performed from Free Motion, Life Fitness or Cardio, Technogym machines are LAAC’s featured supplier. I was hardly able to sleep with all this at my disposal!

Founded in 1880, LAAC was the city’s first private club which is evident by its traditional décor and antiquated furnishings. Yet, I didn’t mind because it is modern hotels that usually divert my attention with their fancy cadre of offerings and technological services. You will also enjoy the themed suites such as my Bruin Suit which was UCLA focused. Amenities include free Wi-Fi, free breakfast, a business center, pets allowed, a child friendly restaurant, an airport shuttle and it’s smoke-free. As well, porcelain-tile floors and walnut-paneled walls decorate the upscale bistro.

The Fit Fathers formula is simple and that is to keep active, eat clean and continually energize your life, while LAAC believes in the value of clean sweat, relentless hustle and zealous competition. It certainly sounds like a match made in heaven to me!
